🐣🧘♀️🌸 April brought sunshine, spring showers, and SO many good things to North Texas Aussie Rescue—but it also reminded us how much work is still ahead.
We took in 29 dogs this month, found loving forever homes for 32 (!!), and transferred 8 into trusted rescue partners. But as always, the happy tails come hand in paw with the reality: medical needs are constant, our heartworm list is growing, and our foster homes are stretched to their limit.
Medical Moments:
Two tough cases stood out in April —Queenie and Kujo, both battling unique and costly medical challenges with broken bones. On top of that, Burt, King Koda, Foxy, and Ember all tested heartworm positive, bringing our 2025 total to eight heartworm-positive dogs in rescue (many already treated). Treatment is essential, and it's expensive.
But we keep showing up—because they need us. And because you keep showing up for them. 💙

📍 Chewy Vet Clinics – Alliance & McKinney
Game. Changer. Nearly 30 NTASR dogs visited Chewy's new vet clinics this month—and the feedback? ✨Chef’s kiss.✨ From the plush lobby that smells like a spa to the tech-savvy check-ins and a medical team that stayed by our pups’ sides throughout the visit, it was a dream. Our dogs were engaged, calm, and treated like royalty.

🥣 Cuddly Kibble
Big news: our long-standing friends at Cuddly have launched a premium kibble line—and NTASR is one of only FIVE rescues nationwide they’re supporting through this launch. Every scoop of kibble feeds our mission, and we’re beyond honored to be part of it. Cuddly, thank you for continuing to show up for rescue dogs in every way possible.

🌸 Puppy Yoga at Uptown Pup
Our first-ever puppy yoga class was a huge success! Hosted at Uptown Pup, the stars of the show were the adorable Disney Litter—and plot twist: 95% were adopted by their fosters. 😎
We keep telling y’all... fostering is magic.

Also at Uptown Pup: an Easter extravaganza with bunny photos, adoptable dog meet-and-greets, and all the springtime smiles. This community continues to show up, and we’re so grateful.
🐾 The Barking Project
Rain tried to ruin our vibes—but instead, the clouds broke and we had a perfect, cool day at The Barking Project! We met so many new supporters, and three of our pups found forever families right on the spot. Events like this prove: the right people just need to meet the right dogs.
Legislation Alert: Make the Call, Texas! 📞⚖️
HB 3458 / SB 1652 – The Ethical Pet Sales Act
Y’all, this is it. This is the moment where Texas could take a real stand against unethical puppy mills and high-volume breeders who care more about profit than animal welfare.
NTASR joined Texas Humane Legislation Network (THLN) at the Capitol for Legislative Advocacy Day, and we showed up strong. We’re proud to stand beside other rescues, shelters, and advocates calling for real, enforceable change.
But we need you.

👉 Tell them to support HB 3458 / SB 1652.
👉 Tell them Texas dogs deserve better.
This bill would ban the sale of puppies and kittens in Texas pet stores — cutting off the demand that fuels puppy mills. It protects families, promotes ethical sourcing, and puts compassion over profit.

Happy Tail - Ralphie & Sully – From Ashes to Forever 🐾✨
You might remember these two from February—found alive on a burn pile in rural Arkansas, likely discarded for being double merles. Their start was unthinkable. But their ending? Absolutely heartwarming.
Thanks to #PilotstotheRescue, Sully and Ralphie were flown to safety, wrapped in prayer blankets and love. With Sully healing from a broken jaw and Ralphie rebuilding trust, the McEntee family stepped up to foster and guide them forward.
Now, they’ve been adopted—together—into a loving home with three young kids who already adore them. From trauma to tail wags, these boys are proof that rescue changes everything.
Double merles aren’t broken—they just need a chance. And because of you, Ralphie and Sully got theirs.

We’re being contacted daily about dogs needing homes. Families who’ve lost their jobs. Folks facing deportation or moving to housing that doesn’t allow pets. People going through health crises. It’s heartbreaking, and we are doing everything in our power to help—supplying food, networking for placement, offering resources.
But when those aren’t enough, the dogs come to us.
And right now? Our foster list is running on fumes.
