New Year, New Leash on Life! 🎉🐾
2025 is a milestone year—NTASR is entering our 5th year of rescue! That’s five years of second chances, wagging tails, and a community dedicated to making a difference. ❤️
January brought 48 new intakes, bringing our total number of dogs in care to 84, and we celebrated 18 adoptions! This month, we’re sharing the story of the Arkansas 13—a heartbreaking but powerful example of the advocacy work we do. These dogs were used for breeding, then heartlessly dumped on a property with no clean water or consistent food. Compassionate neighbors stepped in to keep them alive, but it shouldn’t have come to that.
When local law enforcement can’t or won’t step in, NTASR does—not to place blame, but to work with authorities to make the right calls when lives depend on it. In this case, they had since the summer to prevent this from happening again. And yet, it did. That’s why our work must continue.
Rescues like this are why we fight for those without a voice. Read their story, check out our latest merch, and see how you can be part of the change in 2024!
Here’s to another year of making a difference—one paw at a time! 🐶✨
We are sharing the story of the 13 Arkansas Survivors directly from NTASR President & Founder, Samantha.
A story of the will to survive and dogs who triumph through it all.
July of 2024 NTASR received a call from a sweet lady in Vilonia Arkansas who needed help with dogs that had been abandoned on a property near her by a back yard breeder.
Team NTASR sprung into action securing foster homes, flea/tick medications, sedatives, and yummy treats to help entice the dogs to safety. After 3 weekend round trips, we were able to wrangle and trap 23 adult dogs and 18 puppies.
Once back to North Texas, these dogs started funneling into the vet. We saw worms, bacterial infections, pyometra, heart worms, Giardia, and coccidia all from this dogs who had never known love. They were reactive, terrified, and shut down. Some would snap, lunge, and snarl if approached by people at first, only to become couch potato snugglers by the time they were adopted.
Fast forward six months and again we got a call about this same backyard breeder dumping 14 more dogs on the property. This time Team NTASR was prepared and knew what they were likely walking into. Only this time there was inclement weather pressing the matter to become more urgent.
We reached out to Faulkner County Sheriff’s Department for assistance to just house the animals only to be told there wasn’t any space for these animals. They weren’t willing to confiscate the animals , they weren’t willing to put straw of hay down for them, and they weren’t willing to hold the backyard breeder accountable.
So in typical NTASR fashion, we took matters into our own hands and acted quickly. 13 of the 14 dogs were collected and held in the comfort of a warm and safe home until we could get up there post inclement weather. What we weren’t expecting was to find a mama who had delivered 9 puppies only 24 hours after being brought to safety.
In the middle of the week and with the help of neighbors, locals, and Lane (NTASR Foster) who rented and drive the transport van round trip, we were able to load all of the dogs and transport them back to DFW where they are now comfortable in homes where they are receiving love, fresh water, and plenty of food. They’ll never know another cold night outside, they’ll never know what forced breeding will feel like , and they’ll never be abandoned and left all alone ever again.
These 13 dogs have all started their journey with getting into the veterinarian, being scheduled for their spay & neuters, and have names of their own. We will continue to fight for them because they deserve it. We will continue to be a voice for the voiceless because they deserve it. We will continue to stand up against animal neglect and cruelty because they deserve it. Will you stand with us?

Foster - This time of year brings an influx of owner surrenders and dogs in shelters, and we’re doing everything we can to help. Unfortunately, we have a growing list of owner surrenders we can’t currently assist because we simply don’t have enough fosters. That’s where you come in!
If you’ve ever thought about fostering, now is the perfect time to join our NTASR Foster Family. Fostering is a short-term commitment with a life-changing impact—not just for the dogs but for you, too. We’d love to chat with you and share more about how you can open your heart and home to a dog in need. We have resources available to make sure you feel supported and groups to keep everyone feel more connected.
We’re also excited to partner with Don’t Forget to Feed Me, a fantastic organization dedicated to supplying pet food to local agencies and raising awareness about pet food insecurity. At NTASR, we believe in keeping pets and their people together, and this partnership helps make that possible.
In January, we were proud to drop off over 600 pounds of food to DF2FM—food that will go directly to struggling pet owners who just need a little help to keep their furry family members fed. And we’re just getting started!
Throughout 2025, we’ll have donation boxes placed across the Metroplex to continue supporting this important cause. Keep an eye on our social media for updates on where to find them and how you can contribute. Your generosity will make a real difference in keeping pets where they belong—at home with the people who love them. ❤️🐾
