Hi , welcome to this month’s edition of the Woof Wire! We’re so grateful to have you with us on this journey of rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming these AUS-Some dogs. This October, we’ve been busy with adoptions, special events, and countless new beginnings. Plus, stay tuned for a special note from our president, Samantha Anderson, reflecting on the amazing strides we’ve made together and the important work ahead!
What a month it’s been! October kept us busy with five fantastic events, which brought in incredible support from our community and helped us reach a huge milestone—39 adoptions! This was our second-largest month for adoptions, with July holding strong at 48. Each time a dog finds their forever home, it reminds us of why we work so hard.

Due to the high number of dogs in our care, NTASR had to pause new intakes temporarily. We started October with a staggering 96 dogs under our wings, including four litters of puppies. Our commitment to ensuring each puppy receives all three rounds of vaccinations before adoption is essential for their health, but also costly. Each pup costs around $380 in vetting alone, even before they’re spayed or neutered at six months.
We also had a big win with Hooey, one of our special cases, a double merle (deaf & vision impaired). After battling MRSA, a staph infection, and mange, Hooey required a week-long stay at the vet, resulting in $2,800 in vetting costs. Thanks to his resilient spirit, an amazing foster mom, and the incredible support from our NTASR family, Hooey’s coat is now filling in beautifully, and he’s feeling better than ever. Hooey has been with us since early August, bravely battling various skin irritations and allergies on top of the challenges he was born with as a double merle. His transformation is nothing short of inspiring!
