Every pup has a story, and some will stop you in your tracks. This week’s storyteller is Amelia, a young Aussie whose world turned upside down when she was thrown from a balcony. What could have ended in heartbreak instead became the start of her second chance, thanks to quick-thinking neighbors, a compassionate shelter team, and the open arms of NTASR.
Now, Amelia is learning that life can be soft, safe, full of belly rubs, and the kind of love she never knew existed—and she’s ready to tell you all about it, straight from her paws. 💕
Now a Letter from Amelia
Hi friends,
My name is Amelia. I was just a young girl, living my days with curiosity and energy, when everything changed in an instant. One moment life was normal, the next… I was tossed over a balcony. I can still feel the rush of the fall and the hard ground meeting me below.
But here’s where the good part of my story begins: kind humans at the apartment complex saw what happened. They ran to me, stayed by my side, and called for help. The shelter gave me a quick check, but they knew I wouldn’t heal well in a loud, stressful environment. So they reached out to NTASR to see if they had room for a medical dog like me. And guess what? They said YES. That moment was the start of my second chance.
When I got to the vet, everyone feared the worst. But miraculously, I had no broken bones—just bruises, a sore hip, and an injured eye that now needs daily drops. I was banged up, sure, but I was still standing. Still fighting. Still here.
And OH, what a world it is! In my foster home, I’m discovering things I never knew existed: cozy beds that hug you close, toys that squeak when you pounce, and belly rubs that make you melt into a puddle of happy. I get tasty treats for my joints and fish oil to help me heal—little things that keep me strong and comfy, and that I’ll need for the rest of my life. But honestly? I don’t mind at all. They’re yummy, and they remind me I’m being cared for.
Every day, I get a little braver. I wiggle a little more, my smile grows wider, and my heart feels lighter. I may always walk with a small limp and need a bit of extra care, but those things don’t hold me back. They just make me more determined to embrace this new life I’ve been given.
I’m young, I’m sweet, and I’m ready to write the rest of my story—with someone who will love me forever. 💕
